We rate our hikes as follows:

Rating Distance Description
Easy 3 to 5 miles good trails or old roads; modest elevation changes.
Moderate 5 to 8 miles steeper trails which may be rough in places.
Strenuous 8 miles and up long hikes with extensive climbs and possible rough trails or bushwhacking.

The hike leader
is responsible for arranging such carpooling as may be required. While there is no fee to hike with the club, the indicated amount is to defray automobile expenses and should be given to the driver of your carpool.

To attend, you will need sign up for the event on Meetup. If you are new to hiking, the leader can give advice about clothing, footwear, and equipment. If you are unfamiliar with the hike, the leader will be glad to answer your questions and help you evaluate whether or not it is suitable for you.

The club is always looking for experienced hikers to lead hikes or assist hike leaders. If you know of someone that you think would be a good hike leader or assistant hike leader, or you wish to volunteer, please contact the Hikemaster at hikemaster@ratc.org
