We hope you will join the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club (RATC) and help support our work. RATC was founded in 1932, by Myron Avery, one of the Appalachian Trail founders. We are an all-volunteer nonprofit with no staff. Our members love the outdoors and enjoy the immense recreational opportunities available to us in the surrounding area. We maintain over 120 miles of the Appalachian Trail and 16 shelters from Lickskillet Hollow in Giles County to Black Horse Gap in Botetourt County. This includes the iconic section known as “Virginia’s Triple Crown”, i.e., Dragon’s Tooth, McAfee Knob and Tinker Cliffs, which draws visitors from around the country and world.

RATC is an active organization devoting countless volunteer hours to maintain and improve our 120 mile section of the Appalachian Trail (AT). Annual membership is affordable, i.e., $25 for a Family membership and $20 for an Individual. Lifetime memberships are also available. RATC is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and membership dues are tax-deductible. Funds generated from memberships play an integral part in the club’s ability to provide trail and shelter maintenance. Select the membership that is right for you and pay using our secure online PayPal connection.

Lifetime membership is $250 for an individual and $300 for a family. We advise payment by by check or money order due to sizeable PayPal fee on large orders – please click here to use our Pay By Check form, a printable Adobe Acrobat PDF of our membership form.
