Roaring Run, Falling Springs, Humpback, Beartown SP, Lost Caverns
Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club Meetup Group
This will be an all-day event. We did this a couple of years ago and I think everyone enjoyed it, so why not do it again?!
What we will do, to start this off is go to Roaring Run Falls, this is a 1.5 mile fairly easy hike to a beautiful falls.
Then we will make our way to Covington and go view the falls at Falling Spring Falls.
From there, we will head into town of Covington and go and see the historic Humpback Bridge.
Then we will jump on I-64 and head to the town of Lewisburg, WV and head over to Beartown State Park (pictured).
Then to finish this off, we will head back to the town of Lewisburg and stop at the “Lost Caverns”. I went ahead and purchased tickets ahead of time to save a few bucks. If you would like one, they are $8.00.
And if were doing decent on time, Lewisburg has some decent restaurants in town as well a fairly decent brewery. Or if it is getting late, we can just grab something for the trip back home.
These are all fairly easy hikes or views. All levels are welcome. Roaring Run is probably the most difficult and it’s really not that bad except for some steps.
We will meet at the Daleville Park & Ride for carpooling at 8:00 AM. I can take 4, any more than that, we will need additional volunteers to drive.
