This is a moderate out-and-back hike for a total of 6 miles. After meeting at the Garden City Recreation Center at 9am, we will travel east along the Roanoke Horse Trail, AWAY from Roanoke Mountain. There are no massive climbs but we will have numerous ups and downs, some steeper than others. The trail wanders through the woods next to the Blue Ridge Parkway for 3 miles before petering out at our turn-around point. This is a multi-use trail, so we may encounter mountain bikers and/or horses.
