New River Relocation Work Hike!

Help get the New River A.T. Relocation ready for its Dedication and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on Friday!

The +/- 5 mile relocation of the A.T. between the New River and Rice Field Shelter north of Pearisburg will be officially dedicated on Friday, May 23–and opened to hikers shortly thereafter. Help us get it ready by lopping root stubs, improving drainage, and encouraging revegetation on the section dug by machine.

We’ll meet at the Food Lion parking lot in Pearisburg at 9 am. Bring lunch and rain gear. We’ll have work gloves, loppers, and rakes–but please bring your own if you prefer.

This is a great chance to be a part of A.T. history–the last major relocation to move the Trail onto public land!

Hope to see you there!
