Hike #13. South Ribble to Kimberling Creek

Ribble Trail to Kimberling Creek on the AT. 5.5 miles. Moderate

Located in Bland County, this hike follows Dismal Creek for several miles. Much of the trail is lined with rhododendron. At 3.9 miles, blue-blazed trail on right goes 0.3 miles to Dismal Falls. This part of the creek is very scenic. The hike ends at VA 606 and Kimberling Creek. The AT goes over the creek on a footbridge. Note: the AT is in Blue and the Ribble Trail is in orange.
This section is wet and muddy this time of year, so prepare for that. Also, bring a flashlight in the event we run out of daylight. Hopefully there will still be some snow on the ground. Parking at Kimberling creek is very muddy, so 4wd recommended to park there.
We will meet at the parking lot next to Hardees restaurant on Rt 100 at Rt 11 in Dublin, Va at 09:00 and carpool to the drop off spot. Roanoke folks meet at Orange market at 08:00am to carpool. Recommend $4 cost share.
