Dody Ridge to Mountain Pass

Details — This hike starts with a climb of Dody Ridge, a partially cleared ridge that has been slowly reclaimed by the the forest after a fire, using the Glenwood Horse Trail. We have a very steep half-mile climb to a knob, then we descend to the Great Valley Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We’ll descend almost to Wilson Creek using an old hunters’ trail, then follow the AT to one of the most superbly maintained shelters on the entire trail, Fullhardt Knob. We’ll finish the trip by following the old AT back to our cars.
