Continue Working on the Sinking Creek AT ReLo

The primary function of the RATC is to maintain a 120 mile section of the Appalachian Trail. Weekday work trips work for those who’ve retired. Weekend work trips for the rest of us working folks. Affording us an opportunity to give back to the trail. Weekend normally the first Sat of the month. This month it will be the first Sunday.

We meet at the Orange Market at 8:00 AM carpool to the trailhead at Rte. 630 hike up past the Keffer Oak to the worksite. Bring lunch, work gloves, plenty of water, clothes that you don’t mind getting really dirty and a sense of adventure, because here’s an opportunity to give back to the Appalachian Trail.  The project involves relocating a steep, eroded section of the AT with a 2000 foot switchback. Tools and instruction provided. This is a long term relocation project so we’ll be returning to this site regularly on the first Saturday of the month thru out the Fall and picking up again in the Spring. We will periodically work on other sections as the need arises. We’ll work until about 2:30 and return to the Orange Market by 4:00PM. Join us in making this relocation a reality.
